ZeroPM Final Workshop, Brussels, Belgium, 8–10 September

From 8 to 10 September, the European research project ZeroPM will hold its final workshop in Brussels: Achieving Zero Pollution of Persistent and Mobile Substances: The Way Forward. After five years of research, ZeroPM will present its key results, tools and insights for preventing, prioritising and removing persistent and mobile substances. The programme addresses topics including PFAS, drinking water protection, European chemicals legislation, risk assessment, and the possibilities and limitations of remediation. The workshop will take place at Thon Hotel EU in Brussels.

PFAS in the Rhine – a focus on water protection, Leverkusen, Germany, 26 September

On Saturday 26 September, Volt Leverkusen will host the information and discussion event PFAS im Rhein – Gewässerschutz im Fokus at the Alte Zündholzfabrik in Leverkusen-Hitdorf. The event will focus on PFAS pollution in the Rhine, its impact on water bodies and ecosystems, and the challenges it poses for drinking water supply. Gerard Stroomberg, Director of RIWA-Rijn, will give the keynote presentation, highlighting the cross-border perspective and the importance of the Rhine for downstream drinking water supplies. The presentation will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and an open exchange with experts from science, politics and the water sector.
