RIWA-Rijn has published the 2025 Annual Report – The Rhine. The report provides an up-to-date picture of the Rhine as a source of drinking water and shows that both new and known substances continue to require attention. The updated ERM target values, monitoring and permitting are also discussed.
In 2025, 86 measured parameters exceeded the ERM target values one or more times. RIWA-Rijn therefore once again emphasises the importance of source protection: preventing substances from entering the Rhine is more effective than removing them later during drinking water production.
