This RIWA-Rijn annual report provides an overview of the water quality of the Dutch part of the Rhine river basin in 2015 — the year in which the objectives of the European Water Framework Directive (a good chemical and ecological status) were supposed to have been achieved. Unfortunately, it must be concluded that the ambitions set 15 years ago have not yet been realized, and examples of this can also be found in the Rhine river basin.
